Angry NVIDIA going to kill 8800GTS????!!!!

WTH
READ ON

8800GT stays

Since it now launched the 9800 GTX, Nvidia plans to kill the 8800GTS series. After all, both cards are based on the same G92 chip, but the new and bigger 9800 GTX supports Hybrid Power, Three-way SLI and has a bigger cooler.

The performance of both cards is really close and therefore Nvidia had to decide to phase out the Geforce 8800 GTS.

Currently, 8800GTS sells for about €185, while the 9800GTX sells for €240 or more. It is very questionable to decide if the price difference is worth upgrading, but we guess more people will get a 9800GTX simply because of the bigger number.

If you are an overclocker than you better get the 9800 GTX-based card, as it will get you to 800MHZ GPU speed. If you want to replace your 8800 GTX the 9800 GTX at €250 makes for the perfect upgrade match.

SO NO SLI FOR GTS AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS

What is the source of this news ... ?

It would not be good for us here in Pakistan as 9800GTX is already
tagged at Rs. 31000 and 8800 GTS is at 24000 it is a big difference of
6K while the performance difference is not that much ... would surely be
good if we get 9800 GTX here at 25K as it should be in the first place ...
but chances of happening that are rare (none indeed) as 8800 GTS was
launched at 25K and just droped down 1K only after the release of 9800 GTX

all prices are mentioned at GALAXY...Pakistan's Leading Computer Store...Home

bhaa Believe it

Actually i had this cousin who needed my advice to either buy a 8800gt xxx

or a 8800gts 512

i did some research and came accross this news ..on a couple of websites

and to me it seems completely logical ......of course gts is hellova performer even equal to 9800 smthing

thats whay nvidia

wants us idiots to pay more...for the same product

but anyway 8800gt 512 is excellent and lies only 2-5 frames behind a gts

if you want to sli LATEr ...u wud have to go with the 8800gt

it makes sense...cuz if u read the reviews of 9800GTX on sites like anandtech etc tec....they are saying that 98000GTX is just a modified version of 8800GTS....so they're just ensuring that their product sells....

The 8 and 9 series core is not much different. Just some modifications.

it is also rumored that they will stop making the 9800gtx and 9800gx2 in a couple of months as well, and reduce their price drastically to make room for the gt200 chipset based 9900 series to be launched in q2 2008

9800GX2 might stay in market for a while cuz it offers the latest quad SLI.....9800GTX is already a flop....
