such a conversation is not possible as an old exe setup was stupid unmanaged and lame. msi (Microsoft Installer, part of Windows Installation system) is a service rather then an application. If you see a setup.exe and once you start it, you see InstallShield or something, don't think it an msi in an exe format... its actuallt wrapped in an exe which serves only as compression and single file portability... such setup extract all msi file in the temp directory (Start->Run->(type %TEMP%)...

If you have issues installing/running a msi file, just mention it here... you'll probably need that latest MSI 3 runtimes v2 from Microsoft's Site
