If you want to learn something out of a movie, watch "The Man from Earth", it is undoubtedly the most intelligent movie ever made.
If you want to try watching true masterpieces then try cinemas of other countries, watch Zwartboek, Joyeux Noël, Une vieille maîtresse, Entre les murs and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. The list is endless, just try these, if watching Non English cinema is not your cup of tea, at least do try watching "The man from Earth" and Persepolis.
