Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, Coming to Steam in May, New Trailer Doesn’t Disappoint
The Final Fantasy series is no stranger to being remade (outside of Final Fantasy VII, however), and now another entry into the early part of the series is making it’s way over to the PC via Steam. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is being remade in 3D and will be released on Steam.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is going to be available on Steam on May 12th.
Though it isn’t currently listed on Steam at the moment, the information below the trailer lists all the information we need to know. It can be pre-ordered with a 10% discount on Steam very soon. With Steam integration comes the inclusion of achievements and Steam Trading Cards as well.
Originally released on the PSP and then later via WiiWare and then iOS and Android, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years takes place 20 years after the original events that took place in Final Fantasy IV. You’ll be able to take control of entirely new characters as you try to unravel the mystery of the return of the second moon.
The original Final Fantasy IV is iconic with its fantastic narrative and great gameplay and of course saw the commission of the Active Time Battle system that has been a staple in so many Final Fantasy games since.
Final Fantasy IV (or II outside of Japan for it’s original release in the US) was one of the original RPG’s that I enjoyed in my younger years. The music and overall bright tone combined with the depth of story and classic RPG mechanics made it one of the best experiences I’ve had. Certainly it’s nostalgic.
The sequel has all of the elements one would expect from a Final Fantasy game including an original score by Junyo Nakano. Thus far on all the other platforms that it has been released on, it’s had mostly favorable reviews. So check out Steam to see if it’s ready for pre-ordering to enjoy a new chapter on the Blue Planet.
