Bloomberg has confirmed that the creator of Palm Pre and Pixi have finally decided to put the company up for sale and are looking at potential buyers. Since the sale offer is not public yet therefore it cannot be announced. Palm has selected Goldman Sachs as their primary consultant for the sell-out.
The news about HTC looking into buying Palm is true as it was indicated by HTC CEO as well. Dell also looked into it but does not seem very interested. Other companies, which might be interested are Lenovo, RIM and maybe even Nokia [remote chance but you never know].
Palm is currently valued at $870 million and anyone which is going to buy Palm will only do so to use the name and technology they have. HTC is the most likely contender but there must be some more silent players making out strategies for a possible buy-out.
