MSI Z87 XPower

Last month, we learned that MSI was preparing a new flagship overclocking motherboard known as the Z87 XPower. Since then, MSI has revealed various teasers including a video and several photos and another photo has just been released by MSI Facebook page which gives a more detailed look at the upcoming monstrosity.

MSI Z87 XPower – The Big Daddy of Z87 OC Motherboards?

The latest teaser photo of the MSI Z87 XPower shows the most distinctive feature of the board which is its X logo that is embedded on both sides of one of the three heatsinks situated on top of the Military Class IV components which include SFC’s (Super Ferrite Chokes), Black Solid state capacitors and a total of 16 VRM power phases that would deliver unprecedented amount of power and stability to the Haswell CPU core.

The Z87 XPower is packed with an impressive feature set including OC Genie 4 engine that allows user to adjust between gaming and default mode. In gaming mode, the motherboard would automatically adjust clock speeds to provide users with the most performance out of their PCs when needed while gaming. One can also spot an abundance of super ferrite chokes next to the four DDR3 DIMM slots and also a variety of overclocking friendly features such as Power On/Off, Clear CMOS, Voltage adjustments, clock adjustments and voltage measurement points. I can also spot a BCLK adjustment switch that would allow users to adjust the CPU via motherboard in real-time. This would come quiet handy for overclockers. The heatsink layout is not pictured entirely like the Z87 MAX MPower but shows that MSI would stick with the yellow and black color theme and it looks great. The socket is LGA 1150 which supports the upcoming Haswell 4th generation processors which were recently overclocked to 7 GHz showing their overclocking prowess.

GeForce GTX 780

Fudzilla has got some exclusive information on the upcoming GeForce GTX 780 from NVIDIA, according to them the latest flagship graphic card launches on May 23rd followed by the GeForce GTX 770 on May 30th.

It was already revealed a few weeks back that NVIDIA was about to launch their GeForce 700 series in Mid-May and now we have the exact launch dates for both new GPUs. The previous information also stated that the GeForce GTX 760 Ti would also be included for the Q2 launch lineup but instead launching in May, the GTX 760 Ti would be announced during Computex 2013.

NVIDIA Launches Flagship GeForce GTX 780 on 23rd May

Only a day ago, a report revealed that the GeForce GTX 780 which would be using the same GK110 core architecture would also be priced similar to the GeForce GTX Titan. Although we don’t have any specific details but the card is expected to feature lower SMX and Cuda cores compared to the GeForce GTX Titan which boasts 2688 cores and comes with a 6 GB GDDR5 memory. In the early spotting of the Titan LE card, it was noted that the GPU would be using 5 GB of memory across a 320-bit interface however new reports mention that NVIDIA would have to lower the memory down to 3 GB to ensure that the cost of the GeForce GTX 780 doesn’t goes sky high like the Titan.

limited as a reference design by NVIDIA, although we did see some AIB’s manufacturer custom models only to see them canned later on, the GeForce GTX 780 would be available in custom flavors too allowing AIB partners of NVIDIA to offer custom models of the GPU. But, being based on the GK110 core would mean a major hit to the price point and the site has mentioned that people waiting for the upcoming GTX 780 flagship card shouldn’t worry if the price point does end up near the GeForce GTX Titan, suppose say $759?

Core i7-4770K

Update: Another validation has been found thanks to the Overclock.net community which shows the Core i5-4670K overclocked to 6.2 GHz at 1.216V. Could be a bug but if not then really impressive stuff for Haswell.

The folks at OCaholic have spotted a large list of CPU-z validations which show that the upcoming Core i7-4770K was overclocked to 7 GHz at 2.56V. Intel’s fourth generation Haswell line of processors are expected to launch on June 3rd 2013, several benchmarks of the processor have been leaked which can be seen here and here.

Intel Core i7-4770K Overclocked to 7 GHz – Tons of Z87 Motherboards Spotted

Although benchmarks have been leaking for quiet some time but we never got to see an overclocked validation of the Haswell CPU. Even in its enginerring phase, the Core i7-4770K broke the 7 GHz barrier recording a record OC for Haswell at 7012.65 MHz (91.07 * 77). It is highly possible that the retail version with better stability could achieve an 8 GHz overclock. The record was achieved on the upcoming ASUS Maximus VI Extreme Edition motherboard which we haven’t seen yet but probably would before Haswell launches at Computex 2013.

The validation spree didn’t end here as moments later, another CPU-z shot was spotted but this time on a different CPU running on entirely different boards. This time the CPU used was also an 22nm Haswell chip but instead of the Core i7-4770K, the user used the Core i5-4670T on the ASRock’s upcoming Z87M-OC Formula and the MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX motherboard which was teased last week The MPower board was using an Core i5-4670K processor.
