Cloud Based iOS 5 Delayed Till Fall; Likely A Major Revamp Of OS
Gadgets General

There has been a rumor going around in the streets that the next iOS version for the iDevices, the iOS 5, has been delayed to a late fall release this year that’s being built around the Cloud. The mobile Apple OS is said to be a  complete revamp of the current iOS 4; with more cloud based services. Well, that would be Apple’s hot topic on the WWDC in June this year. It’s also expected that as a new version of the Mac OSX Lion would be launched in June, it’s likely that the cloud will incorporate many of it’s features as well.

The fall release is indeed not following the iOS roadmap. But who knows? It’s still a rumor. We’ll keep you updated as we get more information on this.

iPad 2′s Glass Is 27% Thinner, Stronger Than The Original iPad’s
Gadgets

The latest iPad is very thin, one of the reasons to that is it’s glass screen which is 27% thinner than the original iPad’s. The iPad 2 is even slimmer than the iPhone 4 at just 13.4mm to 8.8mm which is 33% thinner than the original iPad.

Most people would be wondering that the thinner glass would lead it to be weaker but that’s not the case. The iPad 2′s glass is much stronger and the people at iFixyouri have ran a few tests which prove just that.

Cydia 1.1: faster, slimmer, and more stable; including an improved search algorithm and “resume where you left off”. Available in Cydia now!

The advantage of this update is that now Saurik can provide even more updates on Cydia with much more ease and speed than ever before, but this isn’t the only great thing about the new update; you also get UI updates, improved search and speed increases.

Alongside these changes there are also more languages thrown in, including Spanish, Chinese, Greek, German and Dutch making this thing more acceptable to people who don’t want to learn english and own an iDevice.

You can receive the update via Cydia right now on your jailbroken iDevice.

iPhone – The World’s Most Used Camera
Gadgets

Our friends over at The GeekaPhone researched the iPhone’s camera usability from it’s birth and showered us some wowing facts! The infogram compares the iPhone with digital and high end DSLR cameras and tries to explain the reason for it’s popularity.

In some ways, comparing the camera in the iPhone 4 to a high end DSLR is like comparing a hamburger from the local pub to an 18 oz. porterhouse from Peter Luger’s Steak House in New York. Yet, the hamburger is pretty darned good and most people eat hamburgers more often than they do expensive prime grade steaks. A comparison of this nature is unfair to the iPhone. It’s not designed to compete with a DSLR and to expect it to compete at that level is unrealistic. However, it is a camera, among other things, and we compare cameras of different levels all the time.

iPhone 5 Rumormill Round up [Infographic]
Gadgets

Our friends over at Nowhere Else made an excellent infographic which displays all the rumors regarding the soon to be released phone. These include the bigger screen, HDMI port, metal back etc so check it out after the break.

The iPhone 5 will definitely offer an abundance of features, some old and some new but we hope that Apple doesn’t include surprises with it like they did with the iPhone 4 death grip or the iPad 2 screen bleeding issues. The phone shown in the images below looks like a 4G iPod touch but maybe Apple might be following a design similar to the iPhone 4. So far with better RAM, bigger display, NFC, A5 Processor, brighter screen, bigger screen / resolution and HDMI output this phone could be an awesome media center for watching videos on, surfing the internet on and many other great things which iPhones are all very well known for. If Apple decides to throw in 1080p HD video recording that would really be the icing on the cake.

And perhaps an improved battery life would also be a great incentive to encourage people to buy an iPhone 5. While the Q3 launch is not very likely right now we can only hope that people who are planning on buying an iPhone 4 on contract will hold their horses until the release of the iPhone 5. At the iPad 2 reveal Apple did boast that the iPad did meet a good response from the public and currently the iPhone 4 is one of the most popular contract based cell phones money can buy so hopefully Apple will give the iPhone 4 the remake it deserves in the form of an iPhone 5 just like Apple did with the first generation iPad.

For now we can only hope that in the future we hear news about iPhone 5 leaks and such and hopefully among those leaks will be an official unveiling of the iPhone 5

iPhone 5 Prototypes Seen, Foxconn And Others Confirm
Gadgets

This is an image of a third party metal back for the iPhone 4

Foxconn and Mac 9 to 5 are confirming existence of iPhone 5 prototypes, while the latter are even claiming seeing them in person. The sources claim the phone to be the same shape and design except for a bigger screen (vertically or edge to edge we don’t know) which would help it compete with those huge HTC, Motorola and Samsung devices. The phone is also said to have a fully metal back similar to the original iPhone, the type of metal is not confirmed yet but people are speculating it to be liquid metal!

Some sources are even claiming the phone to be coming back to it’s curved back roots like the previous revisions. Other rumors say that the one will feature a universal radio which would make it work with both CDMA and GSM connections.

We have one doubt though, the original iPhone metal back was changed to plastic and then later to glass because of weak signal issues so Apple should better have something planned if they are gonna come back to metal for the iPhone 5.
