Asus claims to have a share of over 70 percent in terms of X79 series motherboards globally in comparison with other motherboard manufacturers such as MSI and Gigabyte.
But it isn’t only Asus that is completely dominating the market by a landfall. If you look back at Intel’s P68 and Z68 chipset series motherboards, Asus had attained a market share of an overage 50 to 60 percent, that too as they had kept their boards at premium pricing while others offered more features in lesser the price.
Never the less, if this seems true, Asus will have the advantage of maintaining its share in the market with Intel’s new Ivy Bridge platform. The Taiwan based company is said to start shipping Ivy Bridge motherboards by the end of February 2012.
In the past, yet again according to Asus, they have claimed to have shipped 23.5 million motherboards in the previous year, a number it plans to increase in 2012. Here at this point, I’d like to quote a line from Razer for all those console gamers, PC gaming is not dead!
