Apple just kicked off its one-day Black Friday 2016 shopping event in Australia. The company is giving away free gift cards worth up to $200 with select product purchases.

Instead of Discounts, Apple is Offering Free Gift Cards via Email on Select Purchases

Apple’s one-day shopping event is now live in Australia. But the bad news is – you won’t be getting any discount if you’re buying an Apple product. The good news, however, is that you’ll get a free gift card worth up to $200 whenever you buy a select Apple gift.

For example, if you are looking to buy yourself (or someone else) an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or an iPhone SE, Apple will throw in a free $70 gift card into the mix. This gift card will be delivered to users via email. Interestingly, it seems as though iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus do not even qualify for a gift card. Strange, given how the aforementioned smartphones are flagships in Apple’s mobile lineup.

If you are interested in bagging yourself an iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 4 from Apple, then you’ll receive a gift card higher in worth. $140, in case you’re wondering. This amount is more than enough to buy a few movies and a ton of apps. If you’re an audiophile, then that’s more than an year worth of Apple Music subscription. What you end up going with is totally your call though.

With the purchase of an Apple Watch Series 1 or a brand new Apple TV 4, you’ll receive a gift card worth $35, which is, you know, quite decent.

The big prize comes when you decide to buy yourself a new Mac. Whether it’s a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac or a Mac Pro, Apple will toss in a $200 gift card for good measure. You can use this amount for anything you like from Apple, which is a huge win for consumers.
