Apple unveiled successors of both its largely successful tablets – the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3. The smaller is the third generation coming after Apple released iPad mini with Retina display. One would think what are the new specs that Apple is throwing in this year in the iPad mini 3? The product has remained successful; it boasts pretty impressive hardware and software features; what’s new? Well, seems like not much is new but Apple has to release these tablet and iPhone children every year. While this year brought in widely different iPhone duo as Apple adopted to the industry trend of bigger screen size ditching its base iPhone model, iPad mini 3 doesn’t carry the same luck. ipad mini 3

iPad mini 3 unveiled:

For one and the biggest, Touch ID fingerprint sensor has been included in the tablet making it ready for Apple Pay mobile payment system. iPad mini 3 boasts the popular 7.9-inch Retina display with 2048 x 1536 resolution. The latest tiny tablet is powered by older A7 processor giving enough reason for Apple spending so less time on the product. Apple’s prominent child of tonight, the iPad Air 2 carries the improved A8X processor and is being the star of the event. As usual, Apple didn’t let us know about the RAM too – we think it has remained to the previous 1GB. Storage options start from 16 GB and go through 64 GB and 128 GB. No more 32 GB will be offered.

In the design department, iPad mini 3 has retained the beautiful shape of earlier mini and looks similarly elegant and premium looking like all the Apple products do. The different thing in terms of design is the availability of the new gold option. While not many people are fan of gold, we assume this tiny child would look beautiful draped in the hue of golden. iPad mini 3 has also retained the 5-megapixel iSight camera and a 1.2-megapixel front shooter.

While there is no reason why one should upgrade from iPad mini with Retina to the latest iPad mini 3, Touch ID integration might prove to an enough selling point for Cupertino. iPad mini 3 also supports quite a huge number of LTE bands so will be available on various carriers throughout the world. The new iPad duo will be available starting October 24th and the preorders are begining tomorrow on October 17th. iPad mini 3 will be sold out for $399 Wi-Fi base 16 GB model.
