Apple Prepping a Whole Family of Notebooks and Desktops in 2017
Apple is already attempting to tackle Microsoft at its own game with the release of several different updates given to not only the MacBook Pro but also the highly-awaited iMac family, as Cook assured his staff yesterday. We should expect several upgrades being given to these machines as we enter 2017.
AMD Radeon Graphics Upgrades and Thunderbolt 3 Ports Expected to Be Retained on the Upcoming MacBook Pro and iMac Lineup
Revered analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors) states that the upcoming iMac models are going to be updated with Type-C USB ports, but the report does not complete the ambiguous details whether or not these Type-C USB ports are going to provide support for USB 3.1 Gen 1 or Gen 2 (also known as Thunderbolt 3) speeds. The 12-inch MacBook is also going to be updated with minor performance upgrades in processing power, but we suspect that the company is going to retain the same single Type-C USB port in the mobile machine.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the iMac family is going to be announced during the first half of 2016. In case you were not familiar with the following, the current iMac models have not been updated in 434 days, so it would be a much-awaited upgrade as far as content creators and other professionals require more processing power and RAM upgrades from these machines. Hopefully, these products will be updated to the Kaby Lake series of processors, allowing consumers to finally upgrade to more than 16GB of RAM.
We also expect the upcoming iMac models will be available in the 4K and 5K resolution models, with the 21.5-inch model sporting the 4K resolution, followed by the 27-inch variant resonating the 5K resolution.
Take this information with a grain of salt, because with high-res displays getting more and more affordable, Apple just might up the number of pixels from its ‘all in one’ machines. With the announcement of the updated MacBook Pro models, it is possible that the Skylake-powered family’s price tags will be reduced, making them more affordable for the public.
