Apple has surprisingly announced two new fourth generation iPad’s featuring a whopping 128 GB of storage.
The 128 GB model will allow users with greater storage demands to effectively use their iPad for power tools such as music and video production, CAD software, and more. I, for one, have used 62 out of 64 GB on my iPad and will happily welcome the significant upgrade. The 128 GB iPad 4 Wi-Fi only version retails at $799, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular one costs $929. These are very steep prices considering you can purchase a full-featured laptop for the same price. It will be interesting to see just how many people purchase this device as Apple as .
Apple SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Phill Schiller was quoted saying: “With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” […] “With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”
It is quite unusual for Apple to update a flagship product so unpredictably however, it could mean that we won’t see another iteration of the iPad in a while. The 128 GB of additional space also differentiates the iPad with it’s sibling, the iPad Mini.
The 128 GB iPad 4 will be available on Tuesday, February 5th in black and white on the Apple Online Store.
