Well this is good news for all the 5+ million Android phones users in US who are really eager to jump to the Android 2.1 OS update after the launch of Nexus One. Androidandme.com reports that all the US based Android phones will soon be receiving OTA or PC install based update to their Android based handsets.
The good news is that it will have all the functionality of Android 2.1 minus probably some, which I guess Google wants to keep with Nexus One. The one feature told expected to be missing will be live wallpapers. Although I am not the fan of live wallpapers as they drain the battery out like anything, but for those who do like it, will have to resort to third party apps for their live wall papers needs.
The carriers are still working on the method on how to provide the update to their users and as it has been out in the market, most of the handsets will receive their 2.1 update within Q2 2010.
