AMD’s Liquid Cooled Vega Frontier Edition Goes On Sale For $1450 USD
AMD’s liquid cooled Vega Frontier Edition has been quietly launched and is now available for purchase for only $1579.99 (and rising). As of this moment, stock is almost depleted and only 3 pieces are left. The vendor for this sale (with fulfillment from Amazon) is SabrePC and the card was originally listed at $1450 USD – so we can assume the MSRP to be at or slightly under this mark. You can find the link for the Liquid Cooled Vega Frontier Edition over here.
Vega Frontier Edition graphics card with liquid cooler currently on sale for over $1500 USD
The graphics card has the same GPU configuration as the original Vega Frontier Edition with increased TDP overhead. An addition of 75 Watts makes the TDP up to 375 Watts which should give a bit more room to AMD for upping the clock speed on Vega right now. Theoretically if users are able to clear the 1700 MHz mark, then you are looking at a peak compute of 13.9 TFLOPs. However, we have seen that the Frontier Edition does not perform as expected and actually has lower gaming performance per FLOP then we would otherwise expect.
So, if you’re looking to buy this card for gaming, we would advise you to wait a bit for the RX Vega which should probably have all the bugs and glitches accounted for. If however, you have the spare cash and want to be one of the first ones to try out this liquid cooled Vega Frontier Edition then you can head over to Amazon and buy the thing for just over $1500 USD ($1579 at the time of writing). However, if you have your eyes set on this GPU then you better hurry because as of this moment, there are only 3 units left in stock – and there is no telling when AMD will be able to resupply. You can check out the current price of the card and the stock over here:
The official specifications, interestingly enough, list the same 13.1 TFLOPs compute of the original Vega, so until we get some benchmarks we are going to hold off on speculating about performance. That said, this will almost certainly perform better than air cooled Vega, even after accounting for everything.
