It is with a heavy heart that I announce to our dear random stranger readers that AMD has decided to retire the ATi brand. The graphics cards will still be there, just without the ATi branding us geeks have come to love over the years.

I don’t know who these people are, what they do or where they’re from but yeah… AMD took this decision after taking a survey which showed that most people don’t care about the ATi branding. Seriously? :S

Major findings from the study are:

Related Intel’s Monstrous 12 Core / 24 Thread HEDT Skylake-X Processor Confirmed – Will Debut On 30th May In Intel Keynote, Availability By End of June
  • AMD brand preference triples when the person surveyed is aware of the ATI-AMD merger.
  • The AMD brand is viewed as stronger than ATI when compared to graphics competitors (presumably NVIDIA).
  • The Radeon and Fire Pro brands themselves (without ATI being attached to them) are very high as is.

This is how the branding will look like from now on:

As you can see, there is no mentioning of ATi anywhere. Cards with such branding will be released later on this year.

ATi, you shall be missed!
