AMD has announced their latest Radeon Pro Duo graphics card which is based on dual Polaris 10 GPUs. The new graphics card features twice the performance of the Radeon Pro WX7100 and is aimed at the prosumer, content creation market.

The AMD Radeon Pro Duo shouldn’t be mistaken with last years Radeon Pro Duo. There’s a big difference between the two as one featured dual Fiji GPUs while the latest variant comes with dual Polaris 10 GPUs. The graphics card is a fast rendering solution that is designed to excel at various tasks such as broadcast, entertainment, media, design and manufacturing workloads. The card is solely aimed at the professional consumer market where likes of content creators and power users can take full advantage of the new Pro Duo graphics card.

AMD Radeon Pro Duo (Dual Polaris 10) Specifications:

As far as specifications are concerned for the new Polaris 10 based Radeon Pro Duo, it can be seen as a downgrade in terms of raw power but there are multiple workloads that can take advantage of all AMD made optimizations to their Radeon Pro stack for Polaris. There’s also a higher video memory buffer that will allow for faster image processing and high texture resolutions to be used in rendering.

The Radeon Pro Duo utilizes two full Polaris 10 cores with 2304 stream processors. This means we are looking at a total of 72 compute units that equal 4608 stream processors. The card operates at a clock speed of 1243 MHz on both GPUs. The card features total compute power of 11.45 TFLOPs which is lower than 16 TFLOPs on the original Pro Duo. The card packs twice the geometry throughput of the Radeon Pro WX7100 and can operate with up to four 4K monitors at 60 Hz and a single 8K display at 30 Hz (single cable mode) or single 8K display at 60 Hz (dual cable model).

In terms of VRAM, the card is a huge upgrade over the 8 GB HBM2 featured on the Radeon Pro Duo with Fiji GPUs. The new card packs 32 GB of fast GDDR5 and AMD is probably using 7 GHz chips which pumps out 448 GB/s bandwidth. The card is powered by a 8+6 Pin power configuration that confirms a wattage of 250W.

AMD Radeon Pro Duo Packs All That For Just $999 US

While the announcement comes today at the NAB Show 2017, the card is expected to hit retail in end of May. The surprising thing is that just like the Radeon Pro WX series, the card will be targeting the market at a very aggressive price point. AMD has confirmed that the card will hit retail for just $999 US which is lower than the Fiji based Radeon Pro Duo’s price of $1500 US.
