AMD Outs Catalyst 15.9.1 Beta, Resolves Memory Leak Issue

AMD has just released a quick fire driver update – Catalyst 15.9.1 Beta – to address the memory leak issue spotted in the recent 15.9 driver that was released just two days ago. The Catalyst 15.9 Beta driver update introduced specific performance enhancements and optimizations for Star Wars Battlefront Beta and Fable Legends as well as a sizable list of bug fixes.

However, users quickly spotted a memory leak issue that would cause the system’s memory to fill-up rather quickly in a number of use case scenarios.

Users throughout have been reporting that upgrading to 15.9 have caused some strange behavior with memory consumption both within Windows and while playing games. Some are even reporting that Chrome and Firefox increase their memory footprint rather quickly with hardware acceleration turned on. One user even noticed that simply snapping a window in Windows 10 caused a memory leak due to the GPU accelerated motion.
Aside from the apparent memory leak, however, it seems to be a rather stable release
