Sony Ericsson’s take on Android is called “Rachael”?

We just talked about the possibility of a Tegra powered device hitting the stores by the end of this year. I also said that it might even be an Android phone instead of something based on Windows CE or Mobile. Well here is our chance to find out. A couple of cellphone and gadget blogs have leaked shots (and a few details) of an upcoming new Android device by Sony Ericsson in its XPERIA line up, codenamed “Rachael”.

The said device is supposedly powered by Google’s Android operating system and this supports full touch input. According to the leaked shots, the phone has three physical buttons right below the screen (yeah HTC likes to pack a lot more), though chances of a physical keyboard are slim – if any. The device also has an 8 Mega Pixel AutoFocus (CyberShot?) camera and according to the leaked documents, is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm QSD8250 processor running on the SnapDragon platform.

The device also has 7.2 mega bits HSPA as well as 3D capabilities and a 3.5 mm audio jack on the top. I don’t see any slots for a Memory Stick or any other storage device. Another interesting thing to note here is that there is no charger port, though a Micro-USB port is visible on the top of the device suggesting that it might be powered by a universal USB charger that all major cellphone manufacturers agreed to implement in Europe.

Though, as of now, the details about the phone are scarce, we will try our best to keep you updated with further information.
