Oh boy, so after some hotly contested telecom duels, it’s the wireless internet service providers turn to take (financial) swipes at each other. And all that, in order to win more customer base. Well, for users, I believe, it just couldn’t get any better.
Do note, that WiMAX service providers will be facing a very stiff competition once telecom service providers begin 3G services in Pakistan. And steps such as the one Wateen has just undertaken will be very necessary, if they are to survive in the cut-throat market of wireless internet.
Well, let’s not keep you folks waiting and get on with the juicy bits of info.
Wateen has, as of today, launched 3 unlimited packages, the details of which are as follows.
|

*Upfront fee for new connections: Rs. 2,999 – Of which Rs. 2,000 are refundable
Do note that the above packages are coming with a ‘non abuse policy’, which entails that abuse of service will result in degradation of service i.e. your connection speed will be reduced.
Terms and Conditions for the new packages.
- Wateen’s fair usage policy applies to all consumer unlimited packages.
- The unlimited packages do not involve any caps on downloads.
- The unlimited packages are not meant for commercial use and/or reselling as per PTA rules.
- Wateen reserves the right to suspend or disconnect temporarily and/or permanently any customer if his/her usage violates any regulations set forth by PTA
- Consumer internet packages unless specified otherwise, do not commit / guarantee bandwidth as per standard practice across all Internet Service Providers wordlwide.

How is this any different from Wateen’s previously announced packages? Well, in this instance, a customer’s account will not be charged in case he over uses his allotted bandwidth, instead his connection speed will be downgraded. So let’s say that a user with a 1 mbps connection downloads over a 100 GBs of data, his account will then be automatically downgraded to the 512 Kbps slot.
So what do you make of these new offers? Do furnish us with your comments.

Highly unprofessional attitude from Wateen.
To actually call these packages unlimited is false.
Read the Terms and Conditions paragraph as it appears they are restricting internet usage still by any means possible.
